In our last blog, we talked about two main factors to consider when to choose a quality dog boarding facility: Cleanliness and Amenites the facility provides. Continuing our conversation about how to choose the right dog boarding facility, whether it’s going to be Daryana’s Backyard or another business, here’re other key factors to consider when finding the right fit for your dog.
3. Safety Measures
Safety should always be a top priority. Inquire about the facility’s safety protocols, including staff training, supervision policies, and emergency procedures. Additionally, make sure the facility is securely fenced and equipped with features like fire alarms and first-aid kits.
Daryana’s Backyard takes safety very seriously. Our outside play areas are fully fenced with 6’ chain-link and field fence throughout and frequently checked for security. In addition to the rigorous PACFA requirements we have gone above and beyond to ensure staff have world-class dog and first aid training. Comprehensive first aid kits are within easy reach if a dog breaks a nail and an on-call vet is available for anything more serious. Inside, the dogs are not exposed to anything hazardous, no access to trash or other dog’s food, and any toys are frequently checked that they are not chewed or broken.
4. Staff Qualifications
The people caring for your dog should be knowledgeable, experienced, and passionate about animals. Ask about the staff’s qualifications, certifications, and training programs to ensure your pet will be in good hands.
Daryana has spent countless hours completing world class training including Red Cross first aid, veterinary support assistant, animal psychology, animal training and pet sitting. These trainings distinguish us from other pet sitters that may only offer their services as a part-time side gig, or bigger facilities that hire entry-level personal with little or no training. For a full list of completed courses our staff is trained in, please reach out to daryanasbackyard@gmail.com. We’re also fully insured, including our vehicles we use for transporting your precious family members to and from the farm.
