Helping Every Stay Start and End on a Calm, Happy Note
At Daryana’s Backyard, our goal is simple: keep every dog safe, happy, and stress-free while they’re in our care. One of the biggest ways pawrents can help us do that is by following a few important drop-off and pick-up etiquette guidelines. These rules aren’t about being strict, they’re about creating a calm environment where dogs can thrive.
Here’s how you can help make arrivals and departures smooth for everyone (two-legged and four-legged alike).
1. Calm drop-offs = confident dogs
When dropping off your dog at our ranch, we ask that you stay calm, respectful, and keep goodbyes short and sweet. Lingering, emotional farewells (while we totally understand it, we’re dog parents, also) can actually make the transition harder for your dog and distract the other dogs already settled in. A confident, prompt goodbye tells your pup, “You’ve got this!” and helps them settle in much faster.
2. Want the easiest option? Choose pick-up
One of the best ways to avoid distractions altogether is to let us pick up your dog directly from your home. Without the excitement of other dogs around, your pup stays calmer and the transition is smoother from the very start. It’s a win for all parties involved, your dog, you, and us, as well. Not to mention the convenience for you.
3. Pick-up time: less excitement, more control
When it’s time to pick up your dog, please don’t call out to them the moment you arrive or jump out of your car waving and cheering (even though we know it’s tempting!). That kind of excitement can quickly spread to all the dogs and make it harder to keep everyone calm and safe.
Instead, text or call us 5–10 minutes before arrival with your ETA. Once you arrive, stay in your car and we’ll bring your dog out to you once all dogs are secured. This allows us to maintain a safe, controlled environment, and ensures your dog’s happy reunion doesn’t turn into group chaos.

4. Leashes and collars are a must
Whenever your dog is arriving or leaving, they must be on a leash. This gives our team the ability to guide, redirect, or separate dogs if needed. Leashes are not optional, they’re one of our most important safety tools. We simply need them to walk your dog from you to our area, and take him/her back to you when you are picking up. Collars help us control a situation that can potentially turn dangerous, and they also have the tag and chip that can identify your dog if anything happens.
5. “STOP! Employees only” means exactly that
If you see a sign that says “STOP! Employees Only,” please respect it. These areas are restricted for very specific safety reasons—for you, for our staff, and for the dogs. Always wait in the designated loading and unloading zone and allow our team to assist you.
6. Respect the rules, they’re here for a reason
Every policy at Daryana’s Backyard is in place to protect your dog, our staff, and all the other very important dogs (VIDs) in our care. Respecting our rules and daily operations helps us provide the safe, structured, loving environment your dog deserves.
