DURING THE STAY

Q: Do you crate dogs?

A: It depends. We do crate dogs that are crate trained especially during the night, or for some reason needs to be separated (feeding times, overstimulated etc.).

Q: Do you care for other pets?

A: Yes, we do. For more info, please refer to visits/drop-ins HERE.

Q: Do you have a fenced yard?

A: Yes, we do have a 6 feet tall fenced yard that we check and repair as needed on a regular basis.

Q: Do you walk my dog daily when in your care?

A: We offer ONE walk per visit, for all 3 or more consecutive overnight stays. However, you can book additional nature walks, as many as you want, at additional cost. Please click HERE for more information.

Q: Do you charge extra for playtime?

A: No, we include playtime in our reasonable fees.

Q: How does a typical day look like?

A: We eat, we rest a little, we go out and play, we rest again, we get one on one attention and personalized time, we go out and play, we rest, we eat. This is a family style business, so please think of it as your own home with many interactive times.

Q: Will you wash up my dog?

A: We offer this a-la-carte service on request. See all our services HERE. This service is included for all our VID members, if a few conditions are met.

Q: Will you hike with my dog off leash?

A: No. This constitutes a liability.

Q: Do you crate dogs?

Q: Will I see my dog while in your care?

A: We post regularly in our FB group. You can get daily updates HERE.

Q: What is the fee for giving my dog medication?

A: No additional fee

Q: Do you provide food or should I bring my own?

A: We strongly recommend to bring your own food in order to keep the dog on same formula and avoid any possible issues.

Q: What does the dog do in inclement weather?

A: Shorter periods of times outdoors (if needed), human interaction, play in the home or garage, mental stimulation.

Q: Can I have special requests regarding my dog’s schedule?

A: For special requests other than published information, please reach out to me directly to daryanasbackyard@gmail.com.

Q: What is the plan if my dog has any kind of non-emergency situation/sickness (ie. Scratch, fever, diarrhea, or loss of appetite etc.)?

A: We will contact you or the emergency contact listed on the intake form. Arrangements will be made on case by case basis.

Q: What else should I bring?

A: We recommend bringing treats, leash, collar, possible medication.

Q: What should I not bring?

A: Toys, beds, bowls. We have all these to accommodate these needs.

Q: How do you make sure dogs get to rest?

A: We take breaks, we darken the room (with black curtains and dimmed lights or no lights at all), we have calming music stations playing, I stay present, which helps with them settling down. I talk to the dogs in soothing tones and use their names, I pet and hug the dog, and help the dog get acclimated and calm.

Q: Do you have an outdoor area?

A: Yes, we do. We have a large backyard, hence the name. We have large separated play areas and plenty of room to play with balls, frisbees, etc..

Q: Where will my dog sleep?

A: Indoors, in a crate (if applicable), on a dog bed, on the floor, on the couch. There are several options and we will choose the best one for your pooch. Please see interior and exterior photos HERE to familiarize yourself with our layout and what we have to offer.

Q: What if my dog does not need a walk, will you adjust my pricing?

A: We offer ONE walk per stay, complimentary, therefore the answer is no.

Q: Will my dog get to socialize?

A: Yes, while playing with others.

Q: Will my dog be left alone?

A: Rarely, but sometimes, yes. We are trying to schedule our errands around nap times.

Q: What if I need to extend my day care?

A: Arrangements can be made. You may be charged for an overnight and may delay your pick-up time until following day at 8am.

Q: Will you take my dog to the dog park?

A: No. This constitutes a liability.

Q: Will you take my dog to meet his/her friends at a different residence?

A: No. This constitutes a liability.

Q: Will I get updates?

A: We post regularly in our FB group. In case of an emergency we will contact you directly via your preferred channel of communication, or your emergency contact listed on the intake form

Q: What if my dog needs a daily injection?

A: This is a case by case situation.

Q: What if not all dogs want to take a break or rest?

A: We have the possibility to separate them and switch dogs in groups so that the ones that aren’t as tired and restless can burn energy while others are napping.

Q: Do you have natural grass?

A: Yes, we do. This is a family habitat/home. Grass, stone, concrete patio, organic mulch, dirt, flowers, bushes, and pine trees are part of our landscape.

Q: What if my dog doesn’t get along with another dog?

A: We have ways to separate dogs. You can also look into a different option for services HERE.

Q: Will my dog get to play?

A: Yes, for several hours per day.

Q: How many dogs do you usually have?

A: On certain days we have small groups, so the number can be slightly different.

Q: How long will my dog be alone for?

A: No longer than a couple of hours at a time. We have help in place to minimize the time that a dog is left alone.

Q: What if I need to add more days/visits to my original booking?

A: Please contact us by phone, email or text as soon as you know your plans changed; we will do everything possible to accommodate your request and/or find an alternative solution.

Q: Do you offer any other perks?

A: Yes. We offer Pawsome Perks Club for all our customers and some extra perks to all our Very Important Dog (VID) members.

Q: Can my dog have a play date with another dog while in your care?

A: Only if the other dog is already a client of ours and present at the same time. Otherwise, this constitutes a liability.

Q: Will you bring my dog to the vet?

A: Yes. You will need to contact your veterinary clinic prior and let them know about this. I will also need a release form signed and this will take 2 minutes from your time. This can be done by email, just in case you travel, or you are pressed for time.

Q: Can I talk to my dog when I miss him/her?

A: We discourage this kind of behavior, as it can be very confusing to the dog not understanding why he/she can hear your voice but unable to see you.

Q: Can I come visit my dog while in your care?

A: We found this to be disruptive and confusing to the dog(s), therefore the answer is no.

Q: Can somebody else pick up and/or drop off my dog?

A: Only with prior written consent from the owner and a release of liability for Daryana’s Backyard if the dog leaves from our care.

Q: Will you celebrate my dog’s birthday while in your care?

A: Absolutely, we love celebrations!
